How to Get More Sales on Your E-commerce App: Growth Hacks

Most "growth hacks" for a store app are really friction removals. The buyer already wanted the product — something in the way stopped them. Here are the changes that reliably move the number, roughly in order of payoff.

1. Cut the steps before payment

Every screen between "I want this" and "paid" loses a share of buyers. Allow guest checkout, ask only for what you need to deliver, and remember returning customers so they are not retyping an address they gave you last month.

2. Show the total cost early

The biggest single cause of abandonment is a delivery charge appearing at the last step. Show it on the product page or the cart — even a higher price accepted early converts better than a lower one revealed late.

3. Rescue the abandoned cart

A cart left behind is the warmest lead you have: they chose the product and stopped. One reminder a few hours later, and one the next day, recovers a meaningful share. Keep it short and link straight back to the filled cart.

4. Use notifications sparingly and specifically

Push notifications are the fastest way to a sale and the fastest way to an uninstall. The ones that work are specific and personal — "the item in your cart is nearly out of stock", "your order is out for delivery" — not "check out our offers". Two or three a week is the ceiling for most stores.

5. Make search work

People who use search convert several times better than people who browse, so a bad search engine is expensive. Handle misspellings, handle Nepali and English terms for the same thing, and never return an empty page — show near matches or popular items instead.

6. Fix speed on a mobile connection

Test on mobile data, not office Wi-Fi. Compress images, lazy-load what is below the fold, and make sure the layout does not jump around as things load — nothing loses a tap like a button that moves.

7. Put trust where the doubt is

Return policy, delivery time and payment options belong next to the buy button, not on a separate page nobody opens. For a first-time buyer, those three answers are the purchase decision.

8. Make reordering effortless

For anything consumable, a one-tap "buy again" from order history is among the highest-converting things you can build. The customer has already decided; do not make them shop again.

9. Measure where they drop

Track the steps: product viewed, added to cart, checkout started, payment completed. The biggest fall between two steps is your next job. Guessing is how effort gets spent on the wrong screen.

The short version

Shorten checkout, show delivery cost early, recover abandoned carts, send few but specific notifications, make search forgiving, be fast on mobile data, answer trust questions at the buy button, and make reordering one tap.
